Dr. Thomas Sors is a global leader in research funding strategy. Over the past two decades, he has helped unlock over $300 million in research funding from agencies like NIH and NSF, private foundations, and corporate partners worldwide. His expertise spans translational research, biomedical innovation, and cross-sector collaborations, with a proven track record of helping investigators and institutions bring breakthrough ideas to life.
Dr. Sors has over a decade of experience training researchers through initiatives like the Indiana CTSI Postdoc Challenge, which he has led since 2014. The program has become a model for teaching postdocs how to both write and review grants—launching hundreds of early-career researchers into academic and industry positions.
Dr. Sors is co-founder of a biotechnology startup focused on infectious disease diagnostics. As an entrepreneur and small business innovator, he has firsthand experience navigating SBIR/STTR applications, building investor-ready business models, and integrating science with commercialization strategies. He has advised startups and small businesses on how to win non-dilutive funding, enter federal innovation pipelines, and position themselves for scale.
